The office of Treasurer is a constitutional office.  The Constitution of Indiana and Indiana statutory law provide for the election of a treasurer in each county of the state at the time of holding general elections. 

County Treasurers of the State of Indiana are charged with the responsibility of being the custodians of all money belonging to their respective counties.  The Treasurer's Office collects, retains custody of, and disburses county funds. It collects various taxes including local and state property taxes, inheritance taxes, and delinquent taxes; and issues property tax statements.
